In view of the annual Sabarimala Hajj season, the state government will open Subhiksha hotels in Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts within two weeks.
The Minister of Food and Civil Equipment JR Anil had announced a decision in this regard at a meeting held to review preparations for Hajj here on Saturday. First of all, the first set of two restaurants will open in Perunad and Pandalam.
“Food prices have been set at a flat rate in accordance with the Basic Commodities Act in consultation with hoteliers. The food price list must be displayed in all hotels and stores in different languages.
Teams have been deployed to check the quality and quantity of all items and inspections will be carried out at venues, including petrol pumps. Taluk control rooms and District Offices of the Food and Civil Supplies Department will open to address grievances.
The Food Safety Department will set up food testing laboratories in Sannidhanam and Pampa while its mobile units will operate in Pampa, Erumely and Nilackal. The departments of Food, Public Distribution, Legal Standards and Food Safety will deploy inspection teams at Nilakal, Irumili, Pampa, Sanidhanam and other stations.
On the other hand, Patanamatheta District Collector Divya S Ayer on Saturday visited Pandalam Palace and Faliya Koyekal Dharma Sasta Temple and had discussions with Palace Secretariat office officials. She also visited the immersive waters frequented by pilgrims during the season and directed to speed up arrangements.
