Hotel Indigo at 120 Water Street Awaits Grand Opening in the Financial District, Manhattan

Exterior work has been completed at 120 Water Street, the 28-story Hotel Indigo in the Financial District. Designed by Jane Kaufman Architects and developed by Atlas Hospitality, the 299-foot-tall tower will produce 52,000 square feet, 128 rooms, operated by the Fortuna real estate group. Raj Guru, Director of Atlas, is the owner of the property which is located on a narrow plot of land between Pine Streets and Wall Streets.

Since our last update in May, work on the facade has been completed, including the installation of glass balustrades for the balconies on the north end of the main elevation and the completion of the ground floor exterior.

The end result of 120 Water Street represented a significant departure from the initial offerings, which called for a blue exterior with bright yellow highlights. The raised cantilever in the upper levels has also been painted yellow.

This bold approach has been tempered to create a more neutral presence among the neighborhood with a design that blends well with the surrounding architecture.

The only largely unconventional design aspect of the original scheme was the series of asymmetrical diagonal columns facing Water Street next to the main entrance.
