Ambleside and Grasmere hotels voted best in country

Two hotels in South Cambrian have taken up the rating of the best hotels in the country.

Rothay Manor, in Ambleside, has been awarded the award along with two other Cambrian hotels.

The dog-friendly hotel was ranked 36th on a list of the UK’s best boutique hotels, identified by Morning Advertiser, a hospitality publication.

Gina Shale, owner of the hotel, said: “We are very pleased to be among the top 50 boutique hotels. It is a testament to our hard working team, who really went above and beyond, this year especially with the challenges that the hospitality industry has faced.

“We are also very grateful to our interior designer Matt at Dynargh Design whose design genius helped turn Rothay Manor into such a beautiful hotel.”

The 50 Best Boutique Hotels Awards are voted by the industry. It is a list of the best places to stay chosen by the industry, which means that these highly acclaimed places are given credit by their peers as the best in the business.

The Academy is made up of more than 100 voters from across the industry.

The party, sponsored by Taylor of Harrogate, took place in York at Star in the City, on Thursday, November 25.

The Yan @ Broadrayne Hotel, Grasmere, was the other hotel in South Cambrian.

Ed Beddington, MA Editor, said: “The demand for exquisite, upscale experiences is something we see across all areas of hospitality.

“Now, you can find the best places to eat, drink and sleep across the country.”

Also featured on the listing is The Cottage in the Wood, near Keswick.

Rothay Manor boasts individually designed bedrooms and a triple AA Rosette restaurant.

These restaurants are awarded for excellence that meet standards that require recognition away from their local area.

Cooking is based on the friendly selection and treatment of the highest quality ingredients. The timing, seasoning, and judgment of flavor combinations will always be excellent.
